Cluj Museum Square is located in the historic market town. The market is called the Museum Square because the Transylvanian History Museum is located there.
The Franciscan Church on Museum Square is one of the oldest and most significant baroque churches in Cluj.
From 1898 in front of the church was placed the Carolina Obelisk, moved from Piața Unirii. The Obelisk was built by the citizens of Cluj in 1831 following the visit of Empress Carolina and her husband, Franz I. The Carolina Obelisk is the first secular monument in the city, all the others having a religious significance.
Museum Square is a pedestrian area, covered with pavement and summer terraces for a fun walk.
